In this drawing and painting class, you will learn how to find your own inspirations and how to organize them in systematic ways through word mind mapping and creating thumbnails.

From generating ideas and drawing with a pen and colour pencil to collaging and colouring the final pieces. Each step shows how a choice of combinations of ideas can lead to a beautiful illustration.

About the instructor

Venie Tee, an outstanding fashion designer and illustrator, has won the Most Promising Young Designer Award and the Best Casual Wear Award in the Young Designer Competition organized by Malaysia International Fashion Alliance (MIFA) in 2005.

She graduated from the Central Saint Martins College in London in Fine Arts (UAL), Raffles College of Higher Education (formerly known as Raffles Design Institute) and Academy of Art University San Francisco.

Since her start of career in 2006, she has incorporated her perseverance and persistence in modern independent aesthetics in each collection, showing a unique femininity. She founded the men’s brand Venie Tee Homme in 2013. She graduated from the Academy of Art University San Francisco, United States, in 2018 with a Master Degree in Illustration. As an artist specializing in fashion, she perfectly blends the two loves to create unique and eye-catching images.

What Is The Course About?

Throughout this drawing and painting workshop, our instructor, Venie will teach you how to create your own illustrations, and each step will be explained in detail in a series of simple illustrations. She will walk you through the steps on how she creates a creative illustration based on the idiom 'Bells & Whistles'.

Step 1: Prepare materials & find your inspiration.

Step 2: Start with words (organize with mind-map) & create different thumbnails.

Step 3: Prepare mixed media and push your creativity from thumbnails to illustration.

Step 4: Picking the colours for your illustration. Thus, creating the texture, addition and subtractive of shapes/shadow, increase the edges and transition of drawing.

Step 5: Adding the level of contrast and make the final touch up.
